Members of the Endurance Center's Fit Family Triathlon Team were among the 114 kids who took part in the July 3 competition in San Mateo, California.
The Endurance Center competitors all successfully completed the triathlon. The children were accompanied by their families and trainers Dr. Kenneth Kim, Coaches Isaak Hayes, Rassamee Hayes and the director of Endurance -- A Sports and Psychology Center, Dr. Cory Nyamora.
All the kids won triathlon medals for taking part in the competition.

Dr. Nyamora praised the competitors for their determination to complete the event.
"I am very proud of these kids for their determination and courage," Dr. Nyamora said. He thanked the parents and other members of the children's families for their support and love for the children.
Although the children had done very well, said Dr. Nyamora, some told him they felt they should have done better. Dr. Nyamora said they were comparing their performance with others who were regular triathlon competitors. "I am proud of these kids because they did really well," Dr. Nyamora said. "In fact, they did much better than during any of their trainings."
Dr. Nyamora told the children that the most important thing was to take part in the competition. "Now these kids know what a triathlon is, all they need is practice, regular exercises, balanced diet, and frequent competitions." He urged the children to compete regularly.
Dr. Nyamora awarded Nancy a medal for her tremendous effort during the competition.
He was overwhelmed by the sense of accomplishment displayed by the children after the competition.
Dr. Nyamora said because of the team's exemplary performance at the triathlon, he is organizing a celebration for the children and their families at Crowne Memorial Park, in Alameda on Saturday, July 9. Dr. Nyamora asked the team members to carry their bikes with them for a riding training. The parents and their kids should gather at the parking lot, at Otis drive and Westline, Alameda, CA, by 9:45 a.m.
The Endurance Center began training the 8-14-year-old children on April 16. The 12-week training program comprised of swimming, biking and running. The children had to be accompanied by at least one parent every training session.
According to Dr. Nyamora, the training was launched to help kids to lose weight, get fit and healthy, make friends, and ultimately participate in the triathlon.
The Endurance center provides sports opportunities, outdoor adventures and psychotherapy for children and families, as well as adults.
