Members of the Fit Family Triathlon Team concluded their 12-week training yesterday, a week before they take part in the California kids triathlon on July 3. Dr. Kenneth Kim, a clinical psychologist supervised yesterday's running and stretch training at Lakeside Park, Lake Merritt, in Oakland. The team went through challenging lower and upper body exercises. The trainees and "I enjoyed them very much," said Dr. Kim.
The training for 8-14-year-old children, which began on April 16, was organized by Endurance—A Sports and Psychology Center based in San Francisco Bay area. The weekly training comprises of swimming, biking and running. The children had to be accompanied by at least one parent every training session.
According to the center’s director, Dr. Cory Nyamora, the training was launched to help kids to lose weight, get fit and healthy, make friends, and ultimately participate in the kids triathlon.
The Endurance center provides sports opportunities, outdoor adventures and psychotherapy for children and families, as well as adults.
The next similar training is planned for next month.
