A California coach and psychologist, today told kids what to do to be fit and healthy.
Dr. Cory Nyamora, the director of Endurance—A Sports and Psychology Center, said the kids should get sufficient sleep, balanced diet, and regular exercise throughout the week.
Dr. Nyamora was talking to the kids he is training for a California kids triathlon.
The children, aged 8-14, are members of the Fit Family Triathlon Team, a 12-week training program supervised by Dr. Cory Nyamora.
The weekly training comprises swimming, biking and running. Dr. Nyamora organized the training to help kids who want to lose weight, get fit and healthy, make friends, and ultimately participate in a California Kids Triathlon.
During today’s training, at Alameda, the children completed eight miles on bicycles and ran one-and-half miles. Two of the most hardworking trainees Stephanie and Chris maintained their momentum. Stephanie's older brothers Chris and Zach enjoyed leading the bike ride and run today.
Dr. Nyamora said he would continue to help the children acquire mental skills to help them deal with difficult workouts. He reiterated the importance of maintaining a positive mind-set when faced with difficulties.
Dr. Nyamora conducts the training for two hours every Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. He told the kids and parents that the children should maintain regular exercises throughout the week to facilitate the training.
“The children should also eat and sleep well,” he said.
Dr. Nyamora is a licensed clinical psychologist and a certified USA Triathlon coach, USA Track and Field coach and Youth Fitness Specialist. His center provides sports opportunities, outdoor adventures and psychotherapy for overweight children and their families.
