Tracy Smith, PsyD - Psychologist

"We are now able to see the essential ingredient that makes psychotherapy effective and successful. Is is not "unconditional positive regard," nor is it magical words, techniques, or postures; it is human involvement and struggle. It is the willingness of the therapist to extend himself or herself for the purpose of nurturing the patient's growth - willingness to go out on a limb, to truly involve oneself at an emotional level in the relationship." M.Scott Peck, MD

Hello! I am a psychologist who has been working with adults in the Bay Area for 15 years. While I am a "generalist," my training has largely focused on anxiety. I find it rewarding helping my clients to feel safe, to process feelings of loss associated with trauma, and to rebuild their lives.

I've always been a curious person, which leaves no room for being judgmental. I work to help clients see that they are not somehow strange or "damaged;" and, instead focus on emotional growth. I am trained in DBT, which improves mindfulness, managing difficult emotions and stress. I am trained in EMDR, as well.

Specialties:

  • EMDR for trauma

  • Trauma & PTSD

  • Adults

  • Couples

  • Anxiety

  • CBT - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

  • DBT - Dialectical Behavior Therapy

  • Solution Focused Therapy
