Demetrius Jetton-Dennard is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has been working within the mental health field for 5 years. He received his Master’s Degree at California State University, East Bay in Counseling Psychology: Marriage and Family Therapy.
Demetrius has experience working with adults and couples. Much of his experience in the mental health field is in supporting survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and those with symptoms of trauma and anxiety. As a former athlete himself, he has a passion to support athletes on their mental health journey. He is also enthusiastic in supporting women, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ communities and helping them to manage the stress of oppression and social injustice.
Demetrius’ style is warm, caring, direct, and goal oriented. He aims to provide a safe space while modeling consistency and healthy boundaries for his clients. His focus helps to provide coping skills and mindfulness techniques to help clients manage their symptoms and behaviors. He aims to help his clients reach their own goals and set them up with appropriate skills so that they are able to handle the future on their own. He pulls from modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral and Solution-Focused Therapies, as well as using homework to help support the client’s therapeutic goals. In his work with couples, Demetrius is influenced by the Gottman Method and focuses on building communication skills, managing conflict, and building intimacy.
