The youth who are preparing for a California Kids Triathlon will be training at Crowne Memorial Park, in Alameda, on Saturday, May 14. The youth are members of the Fit Family Triathlon Team training program organized by Endurance – A Sports & Psychology Center.
Announcing the venue, the center’s director, Dr. Cory Nyamora, who is leading the training program, said his team has organized a workout to improve the kids’ strength and running abilities and techniques.
“We will continue to make our training both challenging and fun for the kids,” Dr. Nyamora said. They have completed four weeks of the 12-week training program.
He asked the parents to gather at the parking lot, at Otis drive and Westline, Alameda, CA, by 9:45 a.m. The two-hour training session begins at 10 a.m.
Meanwhile, Dr. Nyamora announced that he will hold a parents’ bimonthly meeting at his office on Thursday, May 12. The youth are welcome to accompany their parents and participate in a youth group run by Dr. Ken Kim. Both groups are focused on empowering parents and children to make positive changes to their health.
For the kids, it will be a welcome break from the tough bike ride they had last Saturday during their training at China Camp State Park. It was the longest and toughest ride they had had in four weeks.
“Our goal was to show the families how a positive mindset can help people overcome almost any problem or challenge,” Dr. Nyamora said. “Today’s bike ride was the most technical we have put the kids through since the beginning of this training program. We put them through complex turning maneuvers and they all did it, as they sang and said positive things about the task ahead.”
This was one of the most popular events organized for kids last year
A few parents, who did not join the riders, walked through the hilly parts of the park.
When he launched the Fit Family Triathlon Team, Dr Nyamora said: “We are training kids who want to lose weight, get fit and healthy and make friends."
The training comprises of swimming, biking and running all around the bay area. The two-hour 12 weekly training sessions begins at 10 every Saturday. The training locations are announced every week.
